Nidec Sankyo ORPHEUS 50-Note Music Box, Walnut Case — Pachelbel's Canon

🔊 Hear it first: press play below and turn the sound on — a music box should be judged by ear.

A complete 50-note ORPHEUS in a solid walnut case — the entry point to serious mechanical music.

Fifty hand-tuned teeth, a precision-pinned brass cylinder, and a governor you can watch spin through the glass. The walnut case is the soundboard; it turns a quiet mechanism into something that fills a room. Nidec Sankyo (formerly Sankyo Seiki) has built cylinder movements in Japan since 1946, and ORPHEUS is the line they build for collectors.
