1. Who we are

This website, thewayitworked.com ("The Way It Worked Models", "TWIW", "we", "us"), is operated by BEAU-LINK LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. By using this website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Service together with our Shipping Policy, Refund Policy and Privacy Policy.

2. Products and descriptions

We describe our products as accurately as we can. Many items are handmade or individually finished, so small differences in color, finish and detail from the photos are normal and are not defects. Some images on this site, including images on our Custom Commissions page, are AI-generated illustrations and are clearly labeled as such; they show the type of model we offer and are not photos of the item you will receive.

Display models are collectibles for adults and are not toys. They contain small and fragile parts and are not suitable for children under 14.

3. Prices, payment and availability

All prices are in US dollars. Unless stated otherwise, prices include shipping within the United States and any US import duties. Applicable sales tax is calculated at checkout. Some items are sourced to order; if an item becomes unavailable after you order, we will tell you promptly and give you a full refund.

We may correct pricing or listing errors. If an error affects your order, we will contact you before shipping and you may cancel for a full refund.

4. Custom commissions

Quotes. Prices shown on the Custom Commissions page are estimates. Every commission is confirmed by a written quote that states the model, scale, finished size, price and estimated production time. Quotes are valid for 30 days.

Deposit. Production begins after you accept the quote and pay a 50% deposit. You may cancel within 7 days of paying the deposit, or before plans are purchased and material is cut, whichever comes first, for a full refund. After that, the deposit is non-refundable because work and materials are committed to your model.

Progress and approval. We send progress photos during the build and photos of the finished model before it ships. The remaining 50% is due when you approve the finished model. If you request changes after production has started, we will tell you of any added cost or time before proceeding.

Accuracy. Models are built from the best available plans and references. Where original plans are incomplete, the workshop uses period photographs and accepted research. Minor interpretive differences are not defects.

Timing. Production times are estimates and can change with the complexity of the subject, the availability of reference material and international shipping. We will keep you informed of any delay.

Balance not paid. If the balance is not paid within 30 days after we send finished-model photos, we may treat the commission as cancelled and keep the deposit.

5. Shipping, risk and damage

Orders are shipped fully insured. Title and risk of loss pass to you on delivery. Please inspect your order on arrival and report any damage within 48 hours with photos of the item and packaging so we can file the insurance claim. Our Shipping Policy and Refund Policy describe returns, repairs and replacements.

6. Intellectual property

Text, photos, illustrations and other content on this site belong to us or our licensors and may not be copied or used commercially without permission. Ship, aircraft and vehicle names are used only to describe the subjects of our models; no endorsement by the US Navy, other armed forces, manufacturers or museums is implied.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, unless the law where you live gives you a different right.
